ANNOUNCEMENT OF TWO BIOSAFETY WORKSHOPS IN THE ICGEB 2003
The
ICGEB Directorate has approved the new Calendar of meeting and
courses for the year 2003. Among 16 scheduled events, two biosafety
workshops will be organized: From 26 to 30 May 2003 Workshop "Introduction to Biosafety and Risk Assessment for the Environmental Release of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs): Theoretical Approach and Scientific Background" Location: Trieste, Italy Organizers: ICGEB Biosafety Unit, Trieste, Italy About the Workshop The main purposes of the Workshop are: (i) to supply basic information on risk assessment and risk management; and (ii) to provide an overview on international biosafety regulations and the main safety issues debated at an intergovernmental level. Participants: The Workshop is dedicated to those scientists actively involved in environmental releases of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Preference will be given to applicants from developing countries. Registration for the Workshop is limited to 30 participants. Closing date for applications 28 February 2003 Funding Nationals of ICGEB Member States* who are selected to participate on an ICGEB grant will receive their accommodation (twin share) and local hospitality for the duration of the Course; travel is NOT funded.
